Midhill Vineyard is in the Macedon Ranges Wine Region, ten minutes east of Hanging Rock and two minutes from Romsey. Sparkling Macedon, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, Rose and are produced.
The Richards family planted Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer at Midhill in 1993 then Pinot Noir in 2001. A total of 6.5 acres is under vine.
The site is on fertile, red volcanic soil, 540m elevation with a NE aspect. The viticulture follows organic principals with the intention of producing premium quality wine. A program of improving the soils using biological inputs is evolving. Expert local winemakers make our fruit into quality wines that express the high altitude and truly cool climate of the Macedon Ranges, giving them a real sense of place.
